Sustainable food consultants Live Culture Co. needed a new brand identity to reflect their growing breadth of services. Lead by food and farming specialist Anya Fernald, the Oakland-based organization offers their expertise to a variety of values-driven food businesses, in addition to producing events such as the annual Eat Real Festival, and Yes We Can.org.

As part of a complete brand refresh, Albertson Design got under the hood and relaunched the web site for Live Culture Co., a sustainable food consultancy based in Oakland. Napa Valley Think Tank Identity / August 19, 2010
Think Tank is a lab and resource center for winemakers of NapaValley, providing chemical analysis and a place to share knowledge. Our graphic identity took some creative cues from European craft trademarks, depicting an owl sitting on top of a wine barrel.
This was part of a comprehensive brand launch, with web site, on-site retail design, signage, and marketing materials.
Chez Panisse Restaurant / July 14, 2009


Chez Panisse is a neighborhood bistro world-renowned for it’s locally-sourced cuisine. The restaurant was founded in 1971 by Alice Waters, and named after a character in Marcel Pagnol’s 1930′s trilogy of movies (“Marius,” “Fanny,” and “Cesar”). Albertson Design created an online home for Chez Panisse, paying homage to these classic films that inspired it’s founder with their sentiment, comedy, and informality.
Slow Food Nation ’08



An unprecedented celebration of a new food movement, Slow Food Nation was a three-day public event of tastings, seminars, farm visits and panel discussions. Over 85,000 people attended, connecting community and cuisine. Albertson Design provided a comprehensive brand identity that spread to advertising, web and environmental graphic applications.

For this photographer’s site, we wanted an online portfolio that allows visitors to quickly navigate a range of artwork, without having to go too deep into multiple pages. This needed to be achieved with an almost purely visual interface, simple layout and site architecture. The results allow for a whole category of images to be scrolled through on one page.

The production includes a couple of delicious details: a laser-cut cover, and a debossed belly band surrounding the booklet, enticing you to unwrap it and devour the contents.

Bar Agricole Identity

Bar Agricole is a bistro-styled restaurant that embodies the uncomplicated authenticity of doing things right. Founded in the San Francisco tradition of organic cuisine, the cocktail list features only non-industrial liquor, locally-produced bitters, plus herbs sourced from an on-site garden. The visual identity takes its inspiration from the historical merger of european and West Indian cultures.

Così, a nationwide specialty restaurant with a menu focused around their fresh hearth-baked bread, required a comprehensive identity for its retail expansion. The mark incorporates a hand-drawn flame to represent the artisanal menu. Design work extended into the color scheme, signage, paper goods, and menu-boards.
