International design publication Eye focused on Make Magazine: “A magazine needs its own personality—expressed in the way it is written—but also a visual vocabulary expressed in the kind of images it uses (and creates), the typefaces it choses and the mood of its layouts. That’s art direction. In a world (real and virtual) of downloads, templates and defaults, maybe it’s the killer application.
